The Big V were showcasing all of their material for the very first time, with this their debut live show - which is frankly amazing! Big and bluesy with undercurrents of something more soulful, there was immense depth and texture to the 30 minute set. Scoring the perfect combination of striking looks and artful hooks, if you don’t hear more from this band then there is no justice in the world.

The Bad Shepherds play punk songs on folk instruments. Not as a gag, but because they really like the noise. “We think the songs are better than people remember. We love folk instruments. It works. We’ve mostly given the songs a kind of Celtic feel, and we’ve stuck in the odd reel and jig here and there. But occasionally we just thrash!”.

Since their creation in 2002, Canadian six-piece The Souljazz Orchestra have become one of the most potent bands in their field. Drawing on the rough, raw grooves of the ‘60s and ‘70s they have effortlessly fused soul, jazz, Afro and latin rhythms into their music. As a live unit, the Orchestra have become an in-demand fixture at venues and festivals worldwide. The band’s most recent album, ‘Rising Sun’, draws on wider styles still, touching on spiritual jazz, deep African rhythms, taking their sound to new heights. Long-time fan Gilles Peterson (Radio One) has already acclaimed this album to be their best yet.
