PHONIC FM

Phonic.fm is Exeter’s Community Radio. Broadcasting on 106.8 and available online at www.phonic.fm or by phone at 01392 667057. It’s a station without a playlist, with a diverse group of enthusiastic presenters, and with a real commitment to entertain and cover the whole spectrum of arts events in and around Exeter.

As the station moves into its new studios and offices in the basement of Exeter Phoenix during Summer 2008, the new schedule will incorporate several new programming areas aimed at providing coverage of an ever widening and broadening spectrum of the visual art, drama, spoken word and music.

The station will also be providing ‘hands on’ training for a wide range of both existing presenters and others who have already expressed an interest, details of courses can be found on the website by following the ‘skills’ link. With our partners at Isca Media College and Exeter College we aim to provide coverage of courses for the 14 to 19 curriculum, but age is not a barrier for those seeking to acquire new skills.

Later on we’ll be combining to provide a series of enhanced mixed media courses, but for the moment we’re also taking part in Exeter Phoenix’s “Summer’s Cool” events. If you want to become involved in this innovative project and help develop both the ethos and the output of the station, get involved by contacting pete@phonic.fm for more information.

INCUBATOR PROJECT SPACES

Having received several applications to use our new Incubator Spaces, we are pleased to announce that we have selected the first four artists who are going to be working in our new studios. They are: Joanna Brown, Richard Finn, Volkhardt Muller and Juliet Robson.

The artists work in a variety of media, ranging from performance and installation through to painting and printmaking. We will keep you posted on their progress, also look out for invitations from the artists themselves asking you to join them in their studios for specific projects.
