The Shape Of Water (15)

At a top-secret research facility in the 1960s, a lonely janitor forms a unique relationship with an amphibious creature that is being held captive. Guillermo Del Toro’s latest is a visually distinctive and otherworldly fairy tale.

Lady Bird (15)

An outspoken teen must navigate a loving but turbulent relationship with her strong willed mother over the course of an eventful senior year of high school. Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut is a charming and witty tale that delivers fresh insight on the turmoil of adolescence.

A Fantastic Woman (15)

Chilean director Sebastián Lelio’s latest drama is about a young transgender woman struggling with both her own grief and societal prejudice after the death of her middle-aged lover. A Fantastic Woman is an alluring and much needed film that moves trans characters from the margins to the spotlight.

The fall out from the ‘Rodney King’ riots in Los Angeles forms the backdrop to this heartfelt film exploring families and relationships between Korean and African communities. Justin Chon’s sophomore effort is hypnotically beautiful tale of bigotry explored through the eyes of two Korean brothers.

Cinema at Studio 74

The only truly independent cinema in Exeter, this intimate and beautifully designed 74 seat screening space presents a rolling programme of first rate independent film and latest arthouse releases within a vibrant arts setting, complete with a buzzing Café Bar.

Caption Subtitled Screenings

Each season, a selection of our films will be caption subtitled. Caption subtitling is a service that makes our film programme accessible to our Deaf/deaf and hearing-impaired customers by displaying additional auditory information on the screen.

Caption subtitled screenings will have a transcription of the film’s dialogue (in English) and a description of the sound in the film along the bottom of the screen.
