Art On Your Doorstep:
Using Devon’s Galleries to benefit Young People

5 Jul, 10-3.30pm, £20

Taking place at the newly extended Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton, this one-day event for teachers, youth workers, students in education is to explore contemporary art in the gallery setting. This event will offer key skills, activities and information for practioners as well as useful networking and discussion opportunities. Participants will receive a free copy of the ‘Contemporary Art Kit’ produced exclusively for Art On Your Doorstep by artist Simon Persighetti.

National School Films Week:
Howl’s Moving Castle (U)

National Schools Film Week (NSFW) provides teachers and their students the opportunity to see a wide range of films at local cinemas entirely free-of-charge. Exeter Phoenix will be screening Howl's Moving Castle, a japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli and based on Diana Wynne Jones' novel of the same name. A dramatic animated love story between Sophie, a cursed young woman, and Howl a notorious wizard who owns an ambulatory castle. Sophie befriends a demon in the castle that may break her curse.
