A moving and absorbing drama that explores the past and present of a retired couple’s relationship as it reaches crisis point.
On the eve of Geoff and Kate’s 45th wedding anniversary, Geoff receives a letter that plunges him back into his past. The body of his previous girlfriend, who fell to her death in the alps 50 years earlier had been found. The couple find themselves lonely and alone, with their anniversary party looming ever nearer.
The film was a triumph at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival with Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay winning Best Actress and Best Actor respectively for their portrayals.
