Theatre Alibi and Exeter Phoenix present

Hammer & Tongs

by Daniel Jamieson

For anyone who’s ever craved the last word – Theatre Alibi’s very human comedy about arguing…

Hammer & Tongs digs deep into the human compulsion to argue the toss. Two men and a woman quibble, tiptoe into tiffs, debate high-mindedly, negotiate shoals of red herrings, take offence and descend into glorious, undignified, disgraceful, bad behaviour. From farcical fisticuffs at a wedding disco to squabbling for control of the TV remote, Theatre Alibi presents a very human comedy – physical, funny, absurd, musical, moving, and absolutely bloody-minded …

Theatre Alibi has a terrific reputation for new work that’s imaginative, funny and touching. Previous shows include Goucher’s War, Cobbo and Curiosity Shop.

‘One of Britain’s most inventive companies’
THE GUARDIAN

‘A company of enormous, curious inventiveness’
THE TIMES

‘As always with this company, the telling is an inventive delight’ ????
THE GUARDIAN (ON GOUCHER’S WAR)

‘A tale that is by turns comic, thought-provoking and deeply poignant. With sterling performances throughout this fast-paced story captivates its audiences’
THE STAGE (ON GOUCHER’S WAR)

‘The tale moves charismatically between dream worlds, human environments and watery realms to craft a very modern love story that casts a considerable spell’ ????
THE GUARDIAN (ON COBBO)

‘Theatre Alibi create a tale so unusual and surreal that it holds audiences spellbound. Funny, tender and touching. Simply unforgettable…’
THE STAGE (ON COBBO)
