Exeter Phoenix announces recipient of 2015 Artist’s Moving Image Commission

Exeter Phoenix is pleased to announce Bristol based artist Benjamin Owen as the recipient of our 2015 Artist’s Moving Image Commission.
The £1000 commission, and associated support, will help Owen to develop a new film, The Goldfinch, that draws deeply upon his interest in layman’s relationships to politics, landscape, participation and performance.
The completed artwork will be screened at Exeter Phoenix later in 2015.
Benjamin Owen is a filmmaker whose work explores politics as it is played out in the everyday and in the commonplace. Although often working in the form of film, his practice encompasses exhibition making, performing music and working in education. Benjamin’s process is highly collaborative, and he often works with musical performances as a form, so as to question traditional means of participation, reception and display.
