The diverse selection of work specially created for EDge includes full length works by international artists Wally Cardona (USA), Frauke Requardt (Germany) and Rick Nodine (USA) alongside shorter pieces by up and coming choreographers Darren Ellis (Richard Alston Dance Company), Lucy Suggate (Place Prize 2006 Finalist) and Nicholas Quinn (collaborator with MIKS, Etta Ermini and Superlative Arts).

Sandi Thom

A British Council project co-produced with South East Dance, ‘Forward Motion’ offers a comprehensive introduction to the history and development of British screen dance. Curated and presented by leading figures in the British dance and film world, it includes rare archive footage and pioneering early dance films alongside innovative and contemporary shorts.

In this last of the three ‘Forward Motion’ programmes, high profile dance makers each introduce a film that has inspired their practice. It includes Akram Khan introducing Lloyd Newson’s multi-award winning ‘The Cost of Living’; Russell Maliphant selecting Chris Cunningham’s music video for Portishead’s ‘Only You’; and Shobana Jeyasingh choosing Miranda Pennell’s ‘Tattoo’.
