Commissioned by Laban in 2007, Black Mirror draws inspiration from the expressionist vampire film Nosferatu to explore a gothic world of shadows and childhood fears. Evoking the era of silent movies, characters emerge and mutate from the darkness of the imagination, to reveal the monstrous in us all.

Set in New York and dealing directly with illegal immigration following the post-9/11 Homeland Security crackdown. Walter Vale, a vaguely depressed sixty something economics professor returns to his city apartment to find it has been rented without his knowledge to an illegal immigrant couple. Fearing the law, they agree to leave, but Walter has a change of heart and is awakened to a new world and a new life.

India 1937, English engineer Henry Moores builds a trade-road to disaster following a dalliance with his sultry Keralan housekeeper. With the growing independence movement as a backdrop, things are delicately poised for the British colonials. Sumptuous camera work by Sivan, stunning scenery and strong acting present a metaphorical examination of serious culture clash.
