Exeter Phoenix is one of the South West’s leading contemporary arts venues, offering an exciting and varied programme of theatre, dance, performance, music, film and visual arts, and attracting over 300,000 visitors a year.
Situated in the heart of the city, Exeter Phoenix is also a vibrant, multi-purpose conference venue, offering flexible conferencing and meeting rooms for every type of event. Our building houses art galleries, 4 workshop studios, a theatre/auditorium and a café bar and the building is located in the centre of the city close to high street shops, public car parks and to the main bus and train stations.
The flexibility of the auditorium encourages a host of conferences, seminars and exhibitions with the added use of four studio rooms. There is a box office, video and lighting equipment available with expert staff on hand. The drama, dance and art studios are a great resource to use for workshops, classes and courses, for informal meetings and as rehearsal space.
To ensure your event runs smoothly we have a dedicated team managing your booking from start to finish. We can provide technical support and technical equipment is also available for hire. There is the provision of Wi-Fi in the Café Bar.
Exeter Phoenix café bar is on hand at all times to ensure all your hospitality requirements are met. Buffet menus are available as well as a selection of delicious food and a variety of hot and cold drinks which can be ordered from the bar. The café has a fully licensed bar with most of the public spaces licensed for entertainment up until 2am.

Exeter Phoenix’s main event venue is a versatile space designed to accommodate both seated and standing events.
As a fully equipped multi purpose space, the Auditorium is both flexible and functional. Suited to catering for larger groups of delegates, the tiered theatre seating arrangement comfortably holds a maximum capacity of 216 people.
The Auditorium can be arranged to suit your specific type of event. We are also able to provide cabaret seating and a banqueting layout.
The seating system can be easily stored away to make room for standing events such as trade and career fairs, product launches and corporate training. For standing events the Auditorium is able to hold a capacity of 450 delegates.
The space is fully fitted to accommodate all sound, lighting and technical requirements and is equipped with a full sized cinema screen. If required, technical assistance is available at an additional cost.

Situated on the first floor, the Dance Studio is a popular meeting room ideal for practical workshops and training sessions, seminars and breakout sessions. This spacious room doubles up as our Voodoo Lounge, available for smaller music gigs, theatre productions and private parties.
The Dance Studio holds a capacity of 70 delegates when set up theatre style and 30 – 40 in classroom style.

Throughout the year Exeter Phoenix delivers a rich programme of exciting contemporary art and installations featuring a wide variety of local, national and international artists. The Galleries are perfect for stimulating conversation and discussion within a relaxed and friendly environment.
Staging and rostrum are available for talks and presentations as well as the provision of a PA. Full technical support and equipment can be provided. Hospitality and catering is available through prior arrangement with the Café Bar.

Located on the first floor and with plenty of natural light our meeting room is an ideal location for hosting meetings and interviews. This room is set up in a board room style and seats a maximum of 14 delegates.

Exeter Phoenix boasts in-house technical facilities unrivalled in the region. There is a vast pool of state of the art equipment, knowledge & know how that equips us to cater for even the most technically demanding event.
Be it film presentations, theatre, corporate seminars and award ceremonies, music or video shoots, we have a wealth of knowledge and experience that coupled with our highly flexible performance space, make Exeter Phoenix the perfect choice of venue for your event.
We host on average over 200 events per year within the building and supply equipment and technical professionals for external events. As such we are constantly expanding and updating equipment to keep ahead of the fast moving entertainments and arts industry.
With our digital department, we are able to provide a comprehensive audio/visual service, including producing short films to accompany presentations or events, live filming at events and post production and editing. We can record professional studio quality audio at live events & have highly experienced studio engineers to master recordings or combine these with video footage for a full service.
We uphold the highest production values during all stages of events, from the low-key seminar, to the sell out concert, or audiovisual extravaganza. As a result we have many years of satisfied clients many of which return year after year. Our clients include Question Time, Bose, Fat Face, Barnardo’s, BBC, Twofour Production, Youth Dance England, Royal Ballet, Open University, Culture SW and Centre for Sustainable Energy.
We are always happy to discuss and offer advice on technical aspects of potential events plus help you plan a successful and smooth running show.
Also now with Phonic FM (community radio station) and Sound Gallery (music production studio) we can offer a wider number of facilities for your commercial needs such as voice-over recordings, a music library for radio and television ads, podcasts, music composition and music software training.
