Summer Film School 2019

Exeter Phoenix and Four of Swords are proud to present the sixth edition of their hugely successful (and now international!) Summer Film School. This week long workshop (Mon 29 Jul – Fri 2 Aug) is aimed at kids aged 10 to 14 years old. It offers the chance to work with skilled filmmakers to create a professional short film from scratch in just one week!

Big Screen In The Park 2019

Exeter’s favourite outdoor cinema event returns to Northernhay Gardens for two weekends of movie magic under the stars.

High Life (12A)

French auteur Claire Denis’s (Beau Travail, 35 Shots of Rum) breathlessly awaited English language debut is a tale of criminals flung into deep space. Robert Pattinson stars as Monte, a criminal who volunteers for a mysterious space mission to avoid imprisonment.

Beats (18)

A universal story of friendship, rebellion and the irresistible power of gathered youth set to an eclectic and electrifying 1990s rave soundtrack, Beats is a bittersweet coming-of-age story from Scottish director Brian Welsh (In Our Name), executive produced by Steven Soderbergh.

In a drab suburban sitting room, shy and insecure but accomplished pianist Reg Dwight longed to be something more extraordinary and willed into being the flamboyant superstar Elton John. A musical fantasy from the director of Bohemian Rhapsody with a confident central performance from chameleon Welsh actor Taron Egerton.

Cinema at Studio 74

The only truly independent cinema in Exeter, this intimate and beautifully designed 74 seat screening space presents a rolling programme of first rate independent film and latest arthouse releases within a vibrant arts setting, complete with a buzzing Café Bar.
