    This day-long practical course in sound recording for film will look at a wide variety of microphones and techniques, as well as the theoretical background information you need. The course is aimed at all those who need to improve the sound quality of their on location recording and better structure their workflow from recording through to mixing.

    Whether your looking to start a career in sound recording, or are a filmmaker looking to find out how to get better sound for your film, or aspiring to make more professional promotional videos for your company or business, this course will give you the best introduction.

    • Importance of sound and common mistakes/misconceptions
    • Jobs and roles within the industry
    • Sound-gathering formats
    • Examples of good practice
    • Type of equipment; Mics, cables, recorders, poles & their uses
    • Different sound inputs
    • Monitoring during recording – maintaining consistency and quality

    Tutor

    Chris Durfy is an Emmy nominated UK-based production sound mixer for feature films & scripted dramas. He pursues excellence in all facets of audio recording and specializes in science fiction and period drama work. He is an active member of the Cinema Audio Society (CAS), the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) and the Institute of Professional Sound (IPS). He is best known for his work on Stranger Things Season 1 and is currently working on Netflix’s new series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
