The Silence Of The Lambs (15)

Dir. Jonathan Demme, USA, 114 mins, 1990

Starring: Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Lawrence A. Bonney

Jonathan Demme’s seminal film remains an exceptional thriller and an undeniable classic.

Foster is the shrewd FBI detective, Clarice Starling, who must receive help of an incarcerated and manipulative cannibal killer, Dr Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins), to catch another serial killer. But as Clarice tries to pry his secrets loose, she soon learns that these may come at a cost.

Mingling the horror of violent crimes with the psychological terror of their slow-burn interrogation, the film builds to an astoundingly suspenseful climax.

With the support of the Independent Cinema Office and BFI, awarding funds from The National Lottery.
