Based on an extraordinary true story Judi Dench stars once more as Queen Victoria as she formed an unexpected bond with Abdul Karim, a young Muslim servant who traveled from India to participate in her Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Despite protest from the royal household Queen Victoria’s interest in Abdul, his culture and his customs flourished and she became ever more determined to keep Abdul close to her side, promoting him to Royal clerk before engaging

him as her personal teacher.  As the friendship deepened the Queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes and joyfully reclaims her humanity.
