WOW Exeter – Women Of The World Festival Tickets On Sale Now!
In 2018, the year that marked the 100th anniversary since some women got the vote in the UK, and when #MeToo shook the world, we have brought together artists, writers, politicians, comedians, activists and more for the 2nd annual WOW Exeter at RAMM, Exeter Phoenix and Exeter Library.
WOW is a celebration of the achievements of women and girls and looks at the obstacles that stop them from reaching their full potential. Talks, workshops, panel discussions, music and more, it is a festival for women and anyone who knows a woman.
Born at Southbank centre in 2010, WOW had its first sell-out festival in Exeter in 2017 which included beat-boxing, comedy workshops, panel talks, speed mentoring and early morning yoga. From Karachi to Beijing to Melbourne to Hull, since its inception, WOW has become a global network, and Exeter is well and truly part of the movement.
‘As we launched WOW Exeter just one year ago, Harvey Weinstein was on the front pages worldwide, the #MeToo movement was building momentum and people everywhere were starting to shout ‘Time’s Up’! It was the start of a loud and challenging year for Gender Equality. As ever we programmed this year’s festival by talking to the people of Exeter and trying to understand what they want from this year’s WOW. The conversation has definitely changed but it is no less urgent and no less necessary. We have loved every moment of the process, every new person we have met and every thought that has been shared with us. We’ve tried to include it all in here and we hope that you love it too.’
– Debbie Bucella & Chloe Whipple, WOW Exeter Programmers
